Syed Shahzad Nabi

Mr. Syed Shahzad Nabi joined the MariEnergies Board on December 23, 2025, as a Non-Executive Director. He is the Chairperson of the Technical Committee and a member of the HR&R Committee.

Syed Shahzad Nabi is a distinguished Mechanical Engineer with over 35 years of leadership experience across Pakistan’s industrial and energy sectors. He brings deep expertise in machinery diagnostics, plant operations, and management across fertilizer, petrochemical, and energy sectors, complemented by strategic leadership in Human Resources, Procurement, Industrial Relations, and HSE.

He has led due diligence, sustainability/reliability audits, efficiency assessments, and major incident investigations (both process and personnel safety), consistently driving operational excellence and safety. Has designed, planned and executed mega turnarounds in fertilizer, petrochemical and power sector.

A professional trainer in technical leadership and organizational development, Mr. Nabi has designed and implemented numerous skill-building programs for engineers and technical managers. He conceived, designed, and implemented the flagship Training System (TTM), which became a role model for the industry.

Early in his career, he was a professional basketball player, a background that instilled discipline, teamwork, strategic thinking, and composure under pressure.

He has led operational transformations, complex turnarounds, global project due diligence and 3D audit assignments, as well as project execution, consistently achieving sustainable performance improvements. He has also implemented industry best practices in plant operations, driving enhanced reliability, efficiency, and safety.

Recently appointed Group Director Technical at Fauji Foundation Group, he oversees the evaluation and strategic direction of all technical domains across the Group’s companies, including CAPEX review, Mergers and Acquisition, new project development, BMR initiatives, and audits on reliability, operability, sustainability, and HSE, etc. In this role, he drives the adoption of advanced technologies, enhances operational efficiency, and sustainable industrial growth, ensuring that every initiative aligns with the Group’s vision of innovation and national development.

Mr. Nabi serves on the Boards of several associated companies, apart from Managing Technical / Business Risks, guiding long-term investments, sustainability, and modernization strategies.

His career includes key leadership positions, including member of board of Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited, Chairman Board of Pakistan Chemical and Energy Sector Skill Development Company and as Chairman of the Excom Technical Sub-Committee. In these roles, he successfully oversaw end-to-end plant operations, technological upgrades and large-scale capital projects, consistently delivering operational excellence, strategic growth and immensely contributed in the quality of skill development program at PCESSDC. Recognized for his intellectual depth, integrity, and results-driven leadership, he continues to strengthen the Fauji Group’s technical capabilities while fostering innovation and sustainable industrial growth.
